On any given day you will find a book in my hand or my bag, it’s been that way since I was a tiny. It’ll be that way until I die. I read everyday of my life. I am constantly learning and expanding my mind. I don’t know any other way. I read all types of books, never allowing myself to be pigeon-toed to one type of genre. I am like a sponge, constantly soaking up knowledge. I put together a list of some of my current and all time favorite books. Some books can bring me to a space that no podcast, music, or television show can bring me to. Not even The Office.

The Autobiography of Gucci Mane with Neil Martinez-Belkin

So I just bought this book two days ago. I finished it, yesterday actually while enjoying lunch by myself eating grilled salmon. I’m sure off the bat it is known this book may not be for everyone. This book is the Autobiography of Gucci Mane. Gucci is dope, I admire his story. I am a big fan of his 2017 album, Mr. Davis, too. Reading his story and hearing the adversity and obstacles this man went through to get where he is today was inspiring… especially at this time in my life. What I took from him overall was that no matter how many times he was knocked down, brought back to square one, or disappointed by people/himself he found a way to come out of it all the best version of himself. If you aren’t familiar, just look up before and after pictures of Gucci Mane. If you think the physical progression he went through was nice, one can only imagine the mental states he went through to obtain the mentality he is at now. Props Gucci.

The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle

Now I am quite a fast reader, but let me tell you, this book was one where I had to really take in every sentence. I would frequently re-read paragraphs and my copy has it’s fair share of highlighter marks in it. This is the type of book that has the power to spark a change in oneself, if you take in the information. It helped me find a perspective of life that allowed me to connect deeper within myself, my purpose and my consciousness. It transformed my thinking. It’s a lot of knowledge, but well worth the read.

The Tao of Wu by The RZA

My friend KC put me onto this book and I am so grateful she did. I love diving into the minds of influential people I admire. If you are not familiar with The RZA, he is the founder and a member of the Wu-Tang Clan. He brings you deep into his mind and puts you onto serious game, in an enlightened way by mixing his street knowledge with Eastern spirituality. I’ve read this book multiple times. I resonate with the duality and balance The RZA shares from his experiences of life.

The Power of Self-Discipline No Excuses by Brian Tracy

If you need a little fire under your ass, this book is for you. It’s more of an informative and “take notes” kind of book. If you have that entrepreneurial blood, this is a great book to dive deeper into how to strengthen your discipline so you can do all the things your soul dreams of. Get your highlighter and sticky notes prepared for this one.

The Mastery of Love by Don Miguel Ruiz

This book is all about relationships. It shed so much light on what relationships with other human beings should be like. It helped me see where my struggles were in relationships, and how I could move forward in healing and progression. The relationship you have with yourself sets the tone for all the rest. It opened my eyes to why certain things were working and why certain things needed to evolve and/or just be let go of. Relationships can be work, but they are truly something to be cherished when you have the right ones. This book showed me how to show up better for myself so I can be better in my relationships.

The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho

My oh my, how this book has touched my soul. The Alchemist is a very well known book, and for very good reasoning. Wisdom oozes from this book. It take a few chapters for the story to get rolling, but this book puts me in an absolute state of zen. It reminds you to connect to your personal destiny and how there is always an opportunity to look within, and dig deeper. I have re-read this book more times than I can count. It’s interesting how it touches you in different ways as you evolve through the chapters of your life. It is a reminder in book form to listen to your heart and follow through on what makes your soul shine.

Ask and It Is Given by Esther and Jerry Hicks

If you believe in the power of something greater and how you can align yourself best with that power, this book will help you to harness all of the magic that is possible through your thoughts. This book shows you, with zero sugar coating, how you are responsible for everything happening in your life. Everything you are going though is a manifestation of your thoughts and frequencies. Luckily, this book shows how to understand and learn powerful processes that help you to flow with life, not resist it. As humans, we deserve to live a life filled with all things GOOD and abundant. This book teaches you how to work with the law of attraction so that you begin living your dream life.

Decoded By JAY Z

This book changed my life. I have always studied the way JAY Z moves. I got this book when I was living back in New York and going to cosmetology school. I remember being at school and sneaking off to random hidden crevices to read this book when I finished my work. This book got me prepared (and HYPED) to finish school, stack guap, and drive out to start a life on the West coast. This book sparked something in me. The way Mr. Shawn Carter got himself to where he is today off pure determination and belief in himself… that’s that sh*t right there that had me working four jobs to save up so I could move to Los Angeles. It’s funny too, JAY Z and I share the same initials. I always resonated with him. In his book, he talks about how it wasn’t until he was 26 that his career ever began. I told myself my SC 26th birthday year was going to be my year. Low and behold, here I am a week before my 26th birthday. I’ll let you guys know how it goes.
